Book Blueprint by Jacqui Pretty is a great tool for entrepreneurs looking to promote their businesses through writing a book. Pretty breaks the process down into four general pieces of advice, guides readers through the multiple layers involved in those areas, and provides hands-on activities which help readers to visualize their future book and organize their thoughts. As Pretty is an editor who has worked with many self-published entrepreneurs, she knows exactly which questions will pop into the readers' minds and the sorts of issues which these budding writers might make if they just dive into the writing immediately. Better yet, the book is well-edited and proofread with no glaring errors, something that isn't so easy to find with small-press books.Probably the best parts of this book are that they are written in plain English and it's not just a how-to book. Being written in simple, plain English means that anyone can follow Pretty's writing with minimal comprehension issues. I was glad for this simple language because it also made the book a quick read even with the activities, which any busy entrepreneur will appreciate. As far as how-to books go, this one is unique in that it is a working example of the process it advocates. As the book unfolded, I found many areas in which I could see Pretty using the steps she describes. Not only is that an amusing way to demonstrate the content but it's also effective. I do better when I have examples to go off of, and what better example is there than the book she has written?I highly recommend this book for entrepreneurs looking to build their businesses, especially those who don't have any experience in writing this sort of book (or who failed at doing so before). It's an easy, quick read and the activities are very useful in working to write your own book.
