I ordered 2 of these lights, and can say it's one of the best decisions we ever made. Have wanted a couple FeatherBrite cage top lights for a long time, so when we saw that FeatherBrite had switched to full spectrum LED bulbs we decided to give our nearly 18 year old Meyer parrots an early birthday present. This is the first time they've actually had full spectrum lighting ON the top of their cages as we've always used full spectrum floor based lamps between their cages. There's no doubt that both fids like their new lights better because they're behaving like *much* younger birds; they're more active, playful, and definitely appear happier! This alone makes these lights worth EVERY penny. The lights arrived ahead of schedule, were packaged really well, easy to assemble, and downright cute! All that is needed is to position the legs the way you need them, according to which way the cage top bars run, add the washer and snug up with a wing nut per leg, then screw in the bulbs. NOTE: We did have to spread the feet just a smidgen because our flat top aluminum 'Kings Cages' have 5mm bars and it took more pressure than we were comfortable with pushing the light onto the bars; also not making the adjustment would have made it a bit difficult to lift the lights off the cage when needed. My husband carefully spread the feet with his fingers, and they came out *perfect*. Cages with thinner bars would not need this adjustment at all.We also found FeatherBrite to be a great company to work with, and they stand behind their products. In spite of the lamps being packaged so well one of the full spectrum bulbs arrived with a broken filament. Called FeatherBrite, and without hesitation, a new bulb was being readied to send out as we spoke. Is that good customer service or what?! When I expressed that we wouldn't be able to use the lights before the replacement bulb arrived because one fid would get jealous (yes, they're both spoiled rotten - lol), the nice lady told me what kind of bulb to get for a temporary fix until the replacement FeatherBrite full spectrum bulb arrived.Bottom line, if you're wanting one of these lights, don't even hesitate - they are *superb*, and you're purchasing from a company that is both helpful and stand behind their products. Thank you Kathy, you were such a pleasure to speak with, I enjoyed our conversation, and the temporary light bulb fix worked wonderfully. :)It sits up away snd holds the cord out of bird beaks!Far superior to other Avian lights. Seriously worth the money (although a bit pricey). My Conures have a few Zoo Med lamps currently, so it not like they aren't used to artificial lighting. As soon as I plugged in the Featherbrite lamp all 8 of my birds raced to be near it/ under it. It's much much brighter than the other brand and has a much crisper, clearer illumination as well.To simplify... Just one of the Featherbrite lamps is brighter than the three Zoo Med lamps I am currently using running! Definitely recommend spending the money on this brand! We have seven parakeets (mom, dad and their five offspring - 4 girls and a boy) in quite a large cage. We like the light, and it appears that all the birds do, too. I also like that it does not get hot to the touch, and I feel comfortable that it's safe having it on for long periods of time as the day sky can be gray and cloudy in winter and the nights are longer now. The one thing that bothers me is when I crouch to get to their eye level when the light is on and I look up and around, the light is very bright and intense - it really dominates. I wonder how the parakeets experience this and the extent to which it constrains their viewing range. It may not bother them at all - they seem fine. But it does trouble me somewhat - hence, four stars. I just found out I am allergic to parakeets. Of all things to be allergic to . . .and we have seven.I love this lamp ...and I think my parrot is benefiting from the exposure, he seems to be in a better mood when I get home from work. The lamp is made well ....I have no complaints. I just wish I would have purchased something similar that hangs from the ceiling instead of sits on top of the cage. Only because I have to remove the lamp every night before I cover my parrots cage which is kinda a pain. BUT ....with a little creativity, I think this lamp could be altered by taking the legs off and re-assembling them in the opposite direction and then hang the legs on small decorative chains allowing it to hang from the ceiling. If you cover your bird ....buy a hanging lamp instead.I was expecting this lamp to be larger and heavier but I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. It is lightweight and a small size. I thought it might be larger based on the pictures provided by the manufacturer. I uploaded some pictures of it on top of my cage. It has a beautiful sandstone finish, nice and neutral. My cage also has a sandstone finish. For some reason the cage has a tinge pinkish so the two dont match. I just received it today and it was well packaged. The lightbulb arrived unharmed and in working order. The lamp has good coverage, I have it off center on top of my cage and it illuminates the whole cage. Very pleased with my early christmas present! I hope my bird loves it when he comes home with me!A little high priced for the shade and the bulb but looks ok. Just purchased so don't know the benefits for my bird just yet.Bird looks so much happier now
